Healthy Schools Award

Whitley Lodge First School achieved ‘HealthySchool’ status on 4th June 2009. Since then, we have maintained that status and are proud of this achievement!

The ‘Healthy Schools Programme’ (1999) was a joint initiative between DCSF and Department of Health which promotes a whole school/whole child approach to health.

Healthy Schools is intended to deliver real benefits in respect of: Improvement in health and reduced health inequalities; Raised pupil achievement; More social inclusion and Closer working between health promotion providers and education establishments.

Here at Whitley Lodge we place great importance on the physical and emotional well being of the children in our care and we firmly believe that ‘Healthy Schools’ plays a vital role in helping all our young people to reach their full potential.
