Inclusion Quality Mark

We were first awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) in June 2007. Since then we have maintained our commitment to being an inclusive school.
Following our 4th successful re-accreditation in 2016, the summary written by the assessor included the following comments and recommendations:
“Whitley Lodge First School aims to provide a creative, exciting and inclusive learning environment for all.”

“Children are enabled, valued and listened to at Whitley Lodge First School. “

“The school prides itself on its inclusive education….”

“I am of the opinion that the school fully meets the standard required by the Inclusion Quality Mark.”

“I also recommend that the school be awarded Centre of Excellence status subject to the inclusion within its plans of the appropriate areas for development and the completion of the Centre of Excellence documentation.”

A review of our award in July 2017 included the following observations:

“The outside (of school) is impressive and purposeful, with many learning, cooperative and creative play opportunities possible..

“The classrooms are a place where children are consistently focused and engaged, and are offered a diverse range of wider curriculum opportunities…

“The school is moving from strength to strength in terms of its inclusive practice and I recommend they continue to hold Centre of Excellence status…”

“The focus the school place on inclusion is admirable, with all the stakeholders working seamlessly, regardless of their backgrounds, to ensure all children are offered a rich and vibrant school experience.”
