Pupil Premium is a Government initiative designed to target resources on those pupils deemed to be from a disadvantaged background. Specifically, the Pupil Premium money is provided for those pupils who have been on Free School Meals (FSM) at any point over the past 6 years (Ever 6) or those children who have been looked after continuously for at least 6 months (CLA).
The PP grant per pupil rates for financial year 2023-24 are set out below.
*Pupils who are recorded as LAC/PLAC and FSM Ever 6 will attract the LAC/PLAC per pupil amount only. Eligible service children will attract the SPP rate in addition to any other PP grant eligibility rate.
Pupils in Reception to Year 6 recorded as Ever 6 FSM £1,455
Looked After Children (LAC) £2,530
Previously looked after children (PLAC) £2,530
Service Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 in recognition of specific challenges faced by children whose parents are in service and as part of a commitment to the armed forces covenant.
It is designed to assist the school in providing the additional support that these children may need and is currently worth £335 per service child who meets the eligibility.
Eligibility Criteria:
If your child meets the eligibility criteria, please arrange an appointment to speak to the Headteacher to discuss the specific needs of your family so that school can consider how best to allocate this funding.
Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:
Schools can only receive Pupil Premium funding where families have informed school of their eligibility. If you think you are eligible for any of the above criteria, please contact the school office.
The Pupil Premium funding is paid to school as they are best placed to assess what provision pupils need. For more information please see Department for Education:
